Equality between both sexes should be the most important election issue 2010!

George and Lisa are both 30 years old, they started to work in the same company five years ago and they do the same pieces of work. They also have the same education background. Is it fair that George earns 5000 Swe/kr more than Lisa every month?

Sweden is a country which is seen as a modern country. How is it then possible that women here in comparison to men are given less salary, poor healthcare, older medicines, do not get work related injuries accepted as often and are more often the subject for violence caused by a kindred?
This is not the way it is supposed to be. Women have exactly the same value as men. We want to improve women’s situation in the society. To make this possible, it is necessary to:

1- Increase their salaries. - To make this happen we want to institute a law about equal repayment for men and women. We also want to institute six hours workdays. We want to use affirmative action. We also want to legislate that parents split the parental leave in fifty-fifty. Finally we want to raise the salary in general in women dominated working groups.

2- Strengthen women mentally and physically. - To do this we will run courses in self -defense. These courses shall include mental, physical and verbal self-defense.

3- Change the view that women are weaker. – To make this happen, it is necessary to forbid porn and sexual services.

Some common counterarguments given to this issue are: That women are weaker than men in all circumstances and because of that are women not worthy higher repayments, respect and the same opportunities as men. Another is that it all parents shall have their right to choose how to split the parental leave. Another is that self-defense courses are unessential, because women will always be weaker than men anyway. The final counterargument is that porn and sexual services shall exist for everyone’s personal needs.

We think that these counterarguments are malarkey. Women are NOT weaker than men. Women and men might not always have the same qualities, but that does not mean that some qualities are better and should be highly respected and paid than others. The opinion that parents themselves shall be allowed to choose how to split the parental leave is also insane. Because then it will be the woman who stays at home most of the time like it is today, and then there will be no change in the society. That some people think it is unnecessary with self-defense courses is also stunning. You can do a lot to protect yourself even if you have less muscle than your enemy. Statistic tells us that 98% of all porn and sexual services used in Sweden are used by men. Is it then right to call it “everyone’s needs”? We think it is more right to call it “men’s needs”. The sex-industry today often uses women who are women who are vulnerable and in a desperate need of money. The women usually do not have this sort of work because they like it. To change the outlook that women are less valuable, this business has to disappear.

Equality between both sexes in 2010 should be given!
